    Rioting Spreads From Paris Across France

    AUBERVILLIERS, France - Rioting gangs of Arab and African youths, mostly Muslims, torched nearly 900 vehicles, stoned paramedics and burned a nursery school in a ninth night of violence that spread from Paris suburbs to towns around France, police said Saturday. Authorities arrested more than 250 people overnight — a sweep unprecedented since the unrest began.

    U.S. Launches Major Offensive in Iraq

    BAGHDAD, Iraq - American and Iraqi forces launched a major offensive Saturday near the porous Syrian border aimed at destroying al-Qaida in Iraq's ability to smuggle foreign fighters, money and equipment through the region.

    Bush Orders Staff to Review Ethics Rules

    Snow May Further Hinder Pakistan Quake Aid

    MUZAFFARABAD, Pakistan - Forecasters predicted Saturday that snow was likely in Pakistani towns where hundreds of thousands of survivors of South Asia's massive earthquake still don't have shelter, while India said it was delaying opening four aid camps for Pakistani victims along the disputed Kashmir border.

    Bird Flu Kills Young Woman in Indonesia

    JAKARTA, Indonesia - A 19-year-old woman died of bird flu in Indonesia and an 8-year-old boy from her family was hospitalized with the virus, officials said Saturday.

    CRYSTAL RIVER - For the second time in three days, a bay area teacher is facing charges following accusations of a sexual affair with a student. Citrus County detectives say Amy Lilley, a 36-year-old vocational teacher at Lecanto High School, admitted to carrying on a two-month relationship with a 15-year-old female student.
