    U.S., Iraqi Troops Kill 37 Insurgents

    BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. and Iraqi troops launched a dawn assault Monday on another town near the Syrian border and killed 37 insurgents, a U.S. statement said, while the interior ministry reported that a car bomb detonated outside a gate leading into the fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad, killing three foreigners.

    Rice: Border-Crossings Deal 'In Sight'

    RAMALLAH, West Bank - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice urged Israelis and Palestinians on Monday to capitalize on the opportunity for peace and cooperation offered by Israel's unilateral pullout from the long-occupied Gaza Strip, saying a deal is "in sight" on border issues.

    U.S. Had Iraqi With Same Name As Bomber

    BAGHDAD, Iraq - American forces detained and later released an Iraqi with the same name as one of the suicide attackers who struck three hotels in Amman, Jordan, last week, the U.S. military said Monday.

    Pa. Girl Missing After Parents Slain

    LITITZ, Pa. - Police were searching for an 18-year-old man and his girlfriend after they found the girl's parents shot to death in their home. David G. Ludwig killed 14-year-old Kara Beth Borden's parents after they and their daughter argued about her curfew, police said.
