    Rice brokers Gaza border deal

    JERUSALEM (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice brokered a deal on Gaza border crossings in marathon talks with Israel and the Palestinians on Tuesday, scoring a rare breakthrough in Middle East diplomacy.

    Bomb kills 3 outside Karachi KFC: police

    KARACHI (Reuters) - A car bomb exploded outside a KFC fast-food restaurant in the Pakistani city of Karachi on Tuesday, killing three people and wounding 15 in an attack thought to have been carried out by Islamist militants, police and doctors said.

    Bush begins Asian tour

    KYOTO, Japan (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush will seek unity with Asian leaders on North Korea in a tour of the region from Tuesday in which he will also reaffirm the U.S. alliance with Japan and press China for trade concessions.

    ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska (Reuters) - President George W. Bush on Monday sought to counter Democratic critics of the Iraq war by turning their own past words of warning about Saddam Hussein against them.

    PARIS (Reuters) - France's parliament is expected to approve a government plan on Tuesday to extend emergency powers for three months to quell unrest which President Jacques Chirac said pointed to a deep national malaise.

    US faulted on handling nuclear threat

    WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. government is not doing enough to protect nuclear weapons from terrorists and its handling of terrorism suspects is undermining America's image in the Muslim world, members of a commission that investigated the September 11 attacks said on Monday.
