    Bush plans anti-illegals campaign

    President Bush today will call for a crackdown on illegal immigration, a move aimed at further rallying conservatives who recently cheered Mr. Bush's tough talk on Iraq and the Supreme Court.

    Saddam trial adjourned until December 5

    LONDON (Reuters) - The trial of Saddam Hussein and seven co-defendants was adjourned on Monday until December 5 in order to give one defendant time to get legal representation, the chief judge said.

    American Citizen Reported Missing in Iraq

    BAGHDAD, Iraq - An American citizen has been reported missing in Iraq, the U.S. Embassy said Monday, a day after a Canadian Parliament official said that four humanitarian workers had been kidnapped.

    SANTA MARIA, Calif. - A Greyhound bus drifted off a freeway, rolled and then slid at least 100 yards on its side before hitting a tree Sunday, killing a pregnant woman and another passenger, authorities said.

    DENVER - Blizzard conditions wreaked havoc from Colorado to the Midwest, and tornadoes ripped through Arkansas and Kansas as a burst of treacherous weather damaged homes, turned roads into ice rinks and sent cars spinning off highways.

    LAKE LOUISE, Alberta - A ski lift at Canada's famed Lake Louise resort malfunctioned Sunday, trapping about 65 people in gondolas for hours as darkness fell and temperatures dropped below freezing.

    Two Congressmen Hurt in Iraq Vehicle Flip

    BAGHDAD, Iraq - A military vehicle carrying three congressmen overturned on the way to the Baghdad airport, injuring two of them, the U.S. Embassy said Sunday.

    Strong Quake Rocks Southern Iran; 10 Die

    TEHRAN, Iran - An earthquake with a magnitude of at least 5.9 shook a sparsely populated area of southern Iran on Sunday, flattening seven villages, killing 10 people and injuring 70, officials and state-run television said. The temblor was felt as far away as Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

    Fatah gunmen shut down primary vote in central Gaza

    GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian gunmen, firing in the air, stormed on Monday into several polling stations in the Gaza Strip where President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah party was holding primary elections and forced them to close, witnesses said.

    MYAKKA CITY - Deputies arrested 20-year-old Richard Henderson Jr. on Sunday evening in connection with the deaths of four of his family members. Henderson, who could face four counts of homicide, is accused of killing his mother, Jeaneane Henderson, 42; father, Richard Henderson Sr., 48; grandmother, June Henderson, 82; and brother, Jake, 11.

    Woman Dies After Deputies Shock Her With Stun Gun

    FORT MYERS, Fla. - A woman who was combative with deputies and shocked once with a Taser stun gun lost consciousness and later died, authorities said. Tracy Rene Shippy, 35, entered the Hallmark Gold Crown store around 6:30 p.m. Saturday and asked employees to call 911 because she had been in a fight.

    Durant High grad dies in Iraq

    LITHIA - Ellen Delgado was alone at home at 6 a.m. Friday. Her family had left early to go shopping. Then came a knock at the door. It was men in uniform. She knew what that meant. "You know then when you see those uniforms that it's nothing else," said Delgado, mother of three sons, one serving in Iraq. "Still you pray that he just got wounded."
