    Sharon Undergoes Emergency Brain Surgery

    JERUSALEM - Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was rushed back to surgery Friday after a brain scan revealed a rise in pressure on his brain and more internal bleeding, doctors said.

    11 U.S. Troops Killed in One Day in Iraq

    BAGHDAD, Iraq - The U.S. military on Friday announced the deaths of six more American troops killed in the recent barrage of violence that has swept Iraq, bringing to 11 the number of troops killed on the same day.

    TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's president said Thursday he hoped for the death of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the latest anti-Israeli comment by a leader who has already provoked international criticism for suggesting that Israel be "wiped off the map."

    WASHINGTON - Scientists have discovered a protein that seems to play a crucial role in developing depression, a finding that may lead to new treatments for the often debilitating illness — and fundamental understanding of why it strikes.

    BILLINGS, Mont. - Most of the gray wolf pups born in Yellowstone National Park last year have died, a federal wolf expert says, and he believes a dog disease — parvo virus — may be behind the dramatic loss.
