    Former President Gerald Ford Hospitalized

    RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Former President Ford was undergoing treatment for pneumonia Monday at the same facility where he was briefly hospitalized a month ago, his chief of staff said. He was said to be doing well.

    Mexican military incursions across U.S. border reported

    The U.S. Border Patrol has warned agents in Arizona of incursions into the United States by Mexican soldiers "trained to escape, evade and counterambush" if detected -- a scenario Mexico denied yesterday. The warning to Border Patrol agents in Tucson, Ariz., comes after increased sightings of what authorities described as heavily armed Mexican military units on the U.S. side of the border.

    U.S. Wins Support In Iran Dispute

    LONDON - China and Russia agreed with the United States, Britain, Germany and France on Monday that Iran must completely suspend its nuclear program, the British Foreign Office said.

    Calif. executes oldest murderer

    SAN QUENTIN - California executed Clarence Ray Allen, its oldest condemned prisoner, by lethal injection early on Tuesday at San Quentin State Prison after last-ditch court appeals for a stay of execution failed. Allen went to prison for having his teenage son's 17-year-old girlfriend murdered for fear she would tell police about a grocery-store burglary. He order the murders of other witnesses while behind bars.

    Democrats force delay on high court nominee vote

    WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats on Monday forced a one-week delay on a vote by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, but the 55-year-old conservative was still expected to be confirmed by the full Republican-led Senate.

    Pakistani Ruling Party Demands U.S. Apology

    PESHAWAR, Pakistan - Pakistan's ruling party on Monday demanded an apology for an alleged CIA airstrike that killed at least 17 people, but the country's prime minister said his trip to the United States this week would go ahead as planned.

    Family proud of fallen soldier's service
    BRADENTON HERALD
    SARASOTA - Kyle Edward Jackson, a seventh-generation Floridian and pilot in the U.S. Army, died when his OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter was shot down in Mosul, Iraq on Friday. "He wanted to be a hero, and that is one of the ways that we will remember him," said his brother Michael, a Sarasota County Sheriff's Deputy.
