    Hamas says ready to form Palestinian army

    DAMASCUS (Reuters) - The Islamic militant group Hamas was ready to merge armed factions including its military wing to form an army to defend the Palestinian people, a senior Hamas leader said on Saturday.

    An Iranian Shihab-3 missile, capable of striking Israel with a nuclear warhead, is regularly paraded in Teheran.

    Iran warns US, Britain of reprisals

    Iran's Revolutionary Guards chief Saturday warned the United States and Britain that Iran would respond with its missiles if attacked, a clear threat to Israel, which lies within easy range of such a launch.

    ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - After 10 days of relative calm, Alaska's Augustine Volcano roared back to life late on Friday, shooting a cloud of ash 40,000 feet into the sky.

    Gunmen briefly take over Palestinian parliament

    RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Fatah gunmen and Palestinian police, angry at Hamas's election victory, briefly took over parliament buildings in the West Bank and Gaza Strip on Saturday, firing in the air, witnesses said.

    Iraq Abductors Threaten 4 Peace Activists

    BAGHDAD, Iraq - The kidnappers of four Christian peace activists threatened to kill them unless all Iraqi prisoners are released from Iraqi and U.S. prisons, according to a new tape broadcast Saturday.

    Pharmacists Sue Over Birth Control Policy

    EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Four pharmacists who refused to sign a pledge promising to dispense the morning-after birth-control pill sued Walgreen drug stores Friday, alleging they were illegally fired.

None of those words were bad enough to describe the handiwork of Steven Lorenzo, a federal judge said Friday before sentencing Lorenzo to 200 years in federal prison. Lorenzo, 46, was convicted Nov. 10 of drugging nine men, including two who died, with the date-rape drug GHB in order to commit violence.
