    NICKEL MINES, Pa. - A gunman killed six people at a one-room Amish schoolhouse Monday morning in Pennsylvania's bucolic Lancaster County, the county coroner said. State police said several others were injured and taken to hospitals.

    BRASILIA, Brazil (Reuters) - Military searchers rappelled down on Saturday to the wreckage of a Brazilian passenger plane that crashed a day earlier in remote Amazon jungle with 155 people on board.

    Autopsy: Gunman Who Killed Deputy Was Shot 68 Times

    LAKELAND, FLORIDA - Angilo Freeland, the man who shot and killed Polk County Deputy Sheriff Matt Williams on Thursday, was shot 68 times by SWAT team members, according to an autopsy conducted Friday night. Autopsy results, released today, show Freeland died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to Polk County Sheriff's spokeswoman Carrie Rodgers.

    BOCA RATON, Fla. - A teen engineering prodigy who gained national attention in 2002 when he and his family received identification chip implants on live television was killed in a motorcycle accident, authorities said.

    BROOKRIDGE, FLORIDA - A 91-year-old man and an 82-year-old are dead in what the Hernando County Sheriff's Office calls a murder-suicide. They say 91-year-old Anthony Viola shot 82-year-old Athena Howell and then turned the gun on himself. Both Viola and Howell lived at the house.

    All Hillsborough Schools are on modified lock down. This means that no less than two students are allowed outside a classroom without adult involvement. There's controlled access to campus facilities, and all outdoor activities are suspended. Three Riverview schools are on full lockdown after a strong ammonia was reported in the area Friday morning. The schools affected are Collins Elementary, Sessums Elementary and Summerfield Elementary.

    Taxpayers' salvos lead to savings

    The tax revolt saved residents of the Tampa Bay area's largest governments more than $75-million, according to a St. Petersburg Times analysis of budget figures. The savings were greatest in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties, where governments trimmed at least $50-million from their budgets.

    Aisenbergs drop suit against sheriff's office

    Steve and Marlene Aisenbergdropped their lawsuit Thursday against the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. The suit had sought money for harm caused by a conspiracy by the sheriff's office and federal prosecutors to frame the couple in connection with the 1997 disappearance of their 5-month-old daughter, Sabrina, who has never been found.
